Competition Recap...

Soo I had my big competition yesturday and I really was soo nervous I actually peed 7 times in the first hour I was there!!! Thats cray!  Anyway enought about bodily functions it was great as soon as I got there I found my crew got my heat assignments and we discussed who was going when so we could be there for them when they throw down.  I had the 21-15-9 round wod first which kind of fatigued me for the day.  I just tell you that they pulled the trash can over to my area because I was definitly ready to barf.  Seriously I could barely walk, talk or breathe.  I was a lil worried because I the lift wod next within the hour and there was no way I could recover fully from that.  My buddy Ron got me a vitacoco which I mixed my new sweet potatoe protein with once I got that down I felt better but I was upset because while I was lifting my girl Brooke was doing the 21-15-9 rounds of torture and I couldnt be there to cheer for her.

On to my next wod ...Im soo dissapointed with myself and theres nothing anyone can say... I know i still had one of the heavy lifts of the day but I couldve really killed it.  Any normal day I can do it and it couldve been a mix of nerves, and fatigue but I couldnt get anymore than 125 up 3x for a clean and jerk.  Ive done 140 so my goal was to PR at 155 but it just wasnt happening.  Btw my sternum is the most bruised its ever been.. it acutally hurt to lay down.  I know alot of people think we are nuts for wanting to participate in this sport but if you ever came out and just saw a normal class or the espn crossfit games.... you would get it.  Its amazing, the people ive become friends with from my crossfit box.  Theyre amazing and yes we may be a cult but when I explain it to other people, I now tell them its more like a club where we do intense crazy workouts and hang out and laugh in that hour when we eventually catch our breaths.  Some of these people have helped me do things they dont even know they did because theyre just amazing people.  For instance... I was soo nervous about this competition  that I talked about it for weeks,  can I tell you the only people who came out to watch and cheer me on were my friends from my box.  Not my friends or family... my cult came to support me.  Even my bud Melissa who is on crutches and cant drive got her ass over to Philly to be there for us.

Let me tell you.. they came and came strong, the extra pointers and screams when you feel like you cant run another 10 meters will push you further than your lungs can even handle.  Even at one point when I thought I would sneak away to finish my last event (which I wasnt thrilled to do) without anyone watching so they wouldnt see me fail miserably... when I looked and they were all there.  I was even handed a beer as soon as I finished YAY, and I was told they were surprised because I looked like I ran out of steam but got another 2 rounds in.  I was out of steam but its because of them screaming for me that I did get 2 more rounds.   I love them for this and thats another reason why I love this cult/club/gym whatever you want to call it, crossfit is great for the body and the soul.

I woke up today sooo sore... I wasnt expecting that since I didnt feel like my results were good.  Now I know I gave it everything I had because my body was ailing.  My quads, arms, shoulders, traps, and even the sides of my neck were sore... but the good sore like I pushed myself as hard as I could and gave it my all.  I almost needed this because now Im not so dissapointed knowing I can barely do the clean shrug today I def gave it everything I had.  I was just burnt out at that point.  Now trying to figure out how to get around that for the next competition.  I cannot wait to compete again.. it was soo much fun... but I truly think it was more fun screaming and cheering for my friends!!  Oh yeah did I mention we went out for food after and had delishous BBQ on south street!  What a fab day!

Rob and I ran some errands, had brunch (steak and eggs!) and, cleaned the house.  I was waiting around all day for my 545pm softball game which I was excited for since it was my first game with the coed team.  I stretched and foam rolled as best as possible and felt ready to kick ass.  We ended up having a few extra people so we rotated.  The game sucked... we lost... whatever.  Afterwards I was thinking about it and I got pissed.  I waited all day to play and only played a few innings, never even got my hands on the ball and only got to hit 3 times.  That sucks I play because I like to play not because I like to wait all day to play and cheer from the bench... I like to share and rotate I believe everyone should have a chance to play but I wasnt happy about it last night.. I might as well have stayed home and rested my shoulders.  I dont care if we lost or won, I just like to play.

After I got home and ready for bed my shoulders were shot... pretty much couldnt lift my arms up past my head lol.  I now am understanding that I did the best I could and left it all at the festivus games.  I look forward to killing it next year.  I just hope I can WOD tomorrow lol.

WOD happiness

Hey everyone!  I don't have much to write about other than my last two days of WODs.  I woke up Monday not feeling spectacluar... i was up all night with my heart pounding ughhh!  My thyroid meds give me some anxiety here and there but it hasn't happened like this in almost a year.  Soo annoying!!!  Its funny how I can feel when my counts are off... I started a new med this month that I'm sure interfered with my hormones soo I'm sure that's what it is.  Anyway I decided although I felt off that maybe it would be best to go and get a good WOD in, ya know take my mind off it.  That's exactly what happened!  Thank god I felt soo much better after getting in a good sweaty workout,  and the good kind of heart racing lol.  This was a different kind of WOD and I really liked it.  Just a series of moves and you had to complete all 4 to count.  The metcon was good too, using a % of what you got for your strength, you had to get the bar from the ground to overhead any way you liked for sets of 15-10-5 also with chest to bar pull-ups.  I ended up with 85lbs so I tried doing a few snatches since they would be quicker but I would've wore myself out fast.  So power cleans and push presses it was.

Soo I decided since I actually got a great night of sleep I would get up and WOD in the am(not too early of course).  I saw that it was a back squat day but only 3 reps.  That sounded good to me since I've only done 3 sets of 6 for months.  My bud Alex told me I better PR today since last week I did 200lbs at 3x6.  So I started heavy and got right up to 205 and I couldn't believe it!  I then added more til I got to 235 and I couldn't believe it... me? 235? I dont know when it happened but I got strong lol!  The metcon spanked me tho ughhh... it was a tough one and I was dying!  For some sick reason though I do love those long metcons!  It was very hard looking and it did not disappoint.  There was man makers in it... ugh that's the only time I ever almost threwup from working out, I mean had to stop and run to the bathroom gagging eww, so I was not excited to do them again!  Anyway with all the rowing I took my time and paced myself and did burpees in front of my friend doing the recumbent bike so I she would fan me lol.  This was a tough one but I didn't scale any of it.

3/19/13 WOD

METCON

My back squat was highest on the all time leaderboard which Alex showed me after our class... I still cant believe it!  He also wrote BOOM TOWN!! BITCHES under my score!  The best part was the shout out from the Crossfit Aspire Facebook page,  I was soo surprised!  I dont know who wrote it but they made me feel like a friggin rockstar.  Embarrassed(good kind), excited and flattered is how I should describe it... I just couldn't believe it was a post about me. I think I actually pranced around work all day... they've got to be soo sick of hearing about crossfit!

On a quick note... I'm cooking tonight because I actually bought more food to do some paleo planning.  I got some food going on that I can pack for a few days.  My reason being (even though I drank my face off this weekend and made 1 days worth of poor food choices) I lost 6lbs since Thurs!  SO I WILL KEEP THIS UP YAY!  I like quick results... who doesn't?  Even if I have one cheat day a week I can totally do this.... its really all about prepping your meals (thanks Alycia).

BTW sooo excited to see what 13.3 is!!!!

WOD Lovin'

Ok waking up Monday was tough... I needed my beloved coffee to even see straight.  I needed to go and WOD it up since I had a lazy booze bar food weekend.  We did back squats and a Fran like metcon.

3/11/13 WOD
STRENGTH
-Back Squat 3 sets of 6 @ 200lbs
METCON
- 20, 15, 10, 5 reps of
--front squats @ 65lbs
--pull ups w/gray band

I'm starting to realize my strength, my buds always tell me that I'm strong, but now I guess they were being honest not just really nice lol.  But they still are really nice lol.  I REALLY need to start losing weight but the whole paleo thing is just too much work and my body didn't really like it.  Mainly for my pull-ups and other body weight exercises.  I used to look in the mirror and hate myself in every outfit, now my motivation for losing weight is to be a better athlete lol.  WHEN THE EFF DID THAT HAPPEN! LOL!  Its weird.. I start my day eating like a saint.  Some kind of veggie smoothie with protein, tons of water, if I get to it ill pack a decent lunch.  Then I wont eat all day at work and it will all go to hell when I get home and my Rob will want to eat from some kind of shitty take out or pizza delivery place.  My problem is I'm always on the go... rush, rush, rush.  Half the time I cant even get to the store to pick up food to make let alone the fact that I hate cooking.  So I'm always eating processed quick foods with low calories which doesn't seem to be working anymore.  I need to change, but its got to be easy or I wont last a week.

Soo today I woke up ready to go... my legs were a lil tight as expected but good.  I decided since the strength in the WOD was power cleans, 30 to be exact, I was good to go.  My cleans suck but my power cleans are better.  Im working on them, its that whipping movement I'm not getting as easy as the other moves, same with the snatch.  I know I'm just not whipping it from the right spot but when the time comes I just pick it up lol.

3/12/13 WOD
STRENGTH
-Power Clean 3 on the min for ten min @ 115lbs
METCON
-sets of 10,9,8,,,3,2,1
--wallball @14lbs
--kettlebell @45lbs
--box jumps 24in

It was good to go and stretch my legs out.  I feel like it helps me not get terribly sore after a big lift day as long as I'm not doing some other kind of lower body lift.  Somehow for the metcon I had a decent time, I'm not normally the fastest at these but I actually ran through it without stopping.  I HATE wallballs and for some reason today I was able to get through them a lot easier.  I don't know how lol but im going to take it!  I went straight to work and it was soo busy there wasn't anytime to eat so I enjoyed my dunkin donuts oatmeal... it was actually really good.  I also put my protein in my iced coffee SOOO GOOOD!  One of my friends transferred to my store and started today, yay!!!  I was soo great seeing her in the shop again!  Although we were too busy to talk... but that's never a bad thing.  Throughout the day I could feel my quads and butt finally getting sore from my big squat on Monday but its the good kind of sore!  Anyway 13.2 comes out tomorrow night for the Crossfit Games Open and now that I understand whats going on im sooo excited to see what it is!   Aleve here I come!
